Title:
Rice Production Using Organic Farming System
Keywords:
Production, Organic, Faming system, Rice, Experimental AreaAbstract:
This study was conducted from July 8 to October 15, 2011 at the experimental area of J.H. Cerilles State College-Dumingag Campus, Dapiwak, Dumingag, Zamboanga del Sur to find out the effects of the different organic fertilizers on rice production. The study was conducted in single factor experiment with five treatments replicated three times using Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) in an area of 180 square meters excluding canals and buffer zone.
The treatments used are as follows:
Treatment 1 – Vermicast; Treatment 2 – Cattle Manure; Treatment 3 – Hog manure;
Treatment 4 – Chicken dung and Treatment 5 – commercial Organic Fertilizer.
The result of the study revealed
that Treatment 2 (cattle manure) obtained the highest yield compared to other
treatments with a yield of 5.31 tons per hectare. The result further showed
that among the five treatments used, Treatment 2 (cattle manure) obtained the
highest Return on Investment.
