A machine cannot work on its full capacity with one of its components missing just as a company cannot operate at its full potential when its employees are absent. In most companies, Employee Absence is taken lightly, however, this should not be, because it impedes regular operations – as such is the background of the study. The study identifies percentage, causes, and costs of absences of employees from a manufacturing firm (Company A) and a service firm (Company B). These data are gathered through survey questionnaires were tabulated, and analyzed as indicated in the proceeding discussions.
