The study entitled THE EFFECT OF LEVELS OF MAYANA DECOCTION ON THE GROWTH PERFORMANCE OF BROILER from November 27 to December 30, 2008 at Tuburan, Katipunan, Zamboanga del Norte. The main objective of the study was to detemine the effects of levels of mayana decoction on the growth performance of broiler. The building was divided into twelve (12) equal compartments to accommodate five (5) birds per replication. Mayana decoction was process by boiling each one liter of water in every treatment within fifteen minutes with the corresponding amount of mayana leaves. After fifteen minutes of boiling it was cooled, filtered and put into a clean container ready for use. Mayana decoction at different levels was used in the study. Completely Ramdomized Design (CRD) was the statistical tool used in the study which revealed that the highest growth was with treatment 1 (25 g in mayana decoction), with a weight of 1.65kg/head which was not significantly different in comparison with the use of water and with the other levels of mayana. The least feed conversion ration of the study was obtained by plain water (T0) with only 1.90 kg. of feeds needed to produce a kilogram live weight. Birds supplement with 25 grams mayana decoction, 50 grams mayana decoction and 75 grams mayana decoction respectively.

Objectives:

To detemine the effects of levels of mayana decoction on the growth performance of broiler.

Methods:

Complete Randomized Design (CRD)

Findings and Results:

Mayana decoction did not show significant increase in the weight of boiler which revealed that the highest growth performance was obtained by treatment 1 (25g in mayana decoction) with a weight of 1.65kg/head which was not significantly different comparison to the use of water and with the other levels of mayana.

Conclusion:

The use of different levels of mayana decoction as an additive to drinking water did not show significant increase on the growth of broiler, so its use is not recommended.
